Accommondations in St Petersburg vary in prices and quality. The price is proportional to the distance from the main attractions like Nevsky Prospect and the Hermitage. I talked to the travel agents in St Petersburg and all recommended staying in the Nevsky Prospect area if cost in not a concern.
For me, cost and comfort determine my hotel selection. I want to pay at most $130. I'd like the hotel to be clean and since I am going in the summer, I'd like it to have AC. St Petersburg, like many cities near the water, has mosquitoes in the summer.
